INGU is a Calgary/Houston based venture-funded, technology company, revolutionizing how oil and gas companies and water utilities maintain and protect their pipeline assets and in return our environment. We are looking for Data Scientists to support our continued growth in the global oil and gas industry and water utilities.
About US
Oil, gas and water pipelines are critical assets within our economy and like so much of the world’s underlying infrastructure, they are aging and vulnerable to climate events. Our Pipers® solution provides timely, condition-critical insights for pipeline integrity. The unique self-serve inline inspection system is designed for operational conditions, which translates into a 100% uptime and the ability to perform inspections where and when the operator wants. Pipers® data is highly repeatable making it ideal for monitoring changes in pipeline condition, keeping the operator on top of leaks, deposits, and wall condition in a single run.
What we’re looking for
We are seeking Data Scientists to support our growth in the water utilities and oil & gas markets. As a Data Scientist you are capable of understanding and analyzing large complex physical measurement time series data sets and continuously enhancing the Python code base to further automate the analysis. You are a curious individual with strong data analysis skills, and you can wrangle data like a pro alligator wrestler and come out relatively unscathed.
Responsibilities
- Analyze data from the Pipers® pipeline inspection tool and create reports for clients
- Design, develop, and evaluate new programming codes and analysis models and techniques for Pipers® data
- Work with and understand IMU, magnetometer, acoustic, and other sensor data
- Create and maintain tools using Python to optimize data analysis
- Associate and relate data to the real world and apply findings to pipeline operations
Requirements
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree in physics, mechanical engineering, or a similar quantitative field
- Knowledge of advanced data handling techniques such as time-series signal processing, advanced time-warping, and optimization
- 2+ years of programming experience in Python (preferred)
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, or similar tools (preferred)
- Strong quantitative orientation and attention to detail
- Ability to process and analyze large sensor time series datasets and draw meaningful conclusions
- Experience with advanced statistical analysis
- Ability to meet both internal and customer deadlines
