Inspección de tuberías utilizadas en nuevas infraestructuras para localizar fugas

Introducción

Los Pipers® están equipados con un sensor acústico de detección de fugas. Mientras se mueven a través de una tubería, los dispositivos registran continuamente el sonido, relativamente silencioso, del flujo, estableciendo así una línea base de intensidad del sonido. Cuando una tubería tiene una fuga, el chorro de líquido que pasa a través de la grieta o el agujero genera un silbido característico que se desvía significativamente del sonido de referencia de la región localizada alrededor de la fuga. Por el contrario, si existe cambio sobre la intensidad del sonido promedio (o si existe solamente un cambio gradual a largo plazo) a lo largo de la tubería, se concluye la no detección de fugas.

Descripción del Proyecto

Cuando una nueva tubería de transporte de agua potable no superó su prueba de presión inicial, la empresa húngara de gestión de aguas contactó a Aquacust, una empresa local de análisis de agua no contabilizada, para localizar el problema.

“Nuestro cliente ya había detectado muchas fugas en superficie, pero necesitábamos la solución Pipers® para informar sobre lo que sucedía bajo tierra”, afirma László Varga, Director General de Aquacust. Su equipo lanzó los Pipers® a lo largo de 15,4 kilómetros de tubería y, posteriormente, transfirió los datos a INGU para su análisis.

INGU reportó tres fugas en un tramo enterrado a 1,5 metros bajo tierra. Una vez que se desenterró la tubería, Aquacust confirmó que INGU había localizado con precisión una fuga con un error de un metro y las otras dos con un error inferior a cuatro metros cada una.

El proyecto fue un éxito y el cliente quedó satisfecho. De hecho, cuando este mismo cliente contrató de nuevo a Aquacust para inspeccionar una nueva tubería de 20 kilómetros de largo que suministraba agua potable a 10 aldeas de la región, eligieron la solución Pipers® de INGU para el trabajo. “INGU tiene un equipo excepcional y experimentado en el procesamiento de datos”, dice Varga. “Esta es, sin duda, la mejor opción para nosotros”.
